One of the nice things about starting and owning a spirits company is it’s a great way to keep in touch with old friends, classmates, colleagues, etc. It’s a fun business in that sense; if I were a software engineer it’d be cool, but nobody would get all excited about it. Also, if I made pencils, people might be happy that my company was doing well, but there’s nothing about pencils which is really exciting or “sexy” in a sense. Maybe because liquor is liquor, it’s exciting for people to “know the owner” or to “know the guy who made this” with spirits. It’s just the nature of the beast.
I was pleased, then, to receive a very nice note with this photo from my Amherst College classmate, Jose Abad. Here is his inaugural I Bourbon Old Fashioned… may there be many many more, Jose!
